What is the best way to paint plastic molding?
I recently purchased a mid-80's condo with "plastic" base molding. I would like to repaint it. I will eventually replace the molding with wood when I put in hardwood floors...

- i use spray paint as a primer then latex like any other molding
- If you use and oil based undercoat you should be OK to paint it however you feel, that is in Acrylic or Enamel the undercoat will bond well to the molding
- If it wasn't on the wall I would recommend a product called "Fusion" a spray that is made by Krylon but seeing since it's already installed go ahead and use a 100% acrylic , Good luck Les the painter
- All valid answers so far, (Thumbs up to all) but you need not spray. Use Blue 2 inch painters tape to mask the wall above the base molding, clean the base molding prior to painting, prime it, and paint latex. The extruded, cellular moldings are a decent alternative when budget is a factor, and are more widely used lately. Steven Wolf
